Chantal Anderson is a frequent contributor to The New York Times. Recently, she visited famed Hollywood composer John Williams in his Los Angeles home. Williams work spans several decades and lives in the hearts and headphones of many generations. From ‘Jaws’ to ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Schindler’s List’ to ‘Harry Potter’, you are guaranteed to have known and been moved by his work.
When speaking about the film Jaws and John Williams work for it, film director Steven Spielberg said, “When everyone came out and said ‘Jaws’ scared them out of the water, it was Johnny who scared them out of the water,” Spielberg said. “His music was scarier than seeing the shark.”
