James Nares ” The Street ” new work at The Metropolitan Museum

When I was in NY I went to see this new video piece installed near the photography galleries at The MET. Nares is an English painter who has lived in NYC since the 1970’s and this new video work is hypnotic and stunning. With music by Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, I really could have sat and watched it all day. Over the course of a week in September 2011, Nares recorded sixteen hours of footage of people on the streets of Manhattan from a moving car. The show is on view at the Museum through May 27, 2013.
