This is the photo that Frank chose to include in LA Magazine’s list of images that seem to best encompass the iconic and diverse history of Los Angeles.
The article, which was featured in LA Mag’s “Flashback” issue, interviews various historians and photographers, including Frank, who said that this image of a Richard Pryor billboard hanging above the sunset strip in 1981 is “a perfect moment captured by David Strick”.
