In 1947, the tabloid photographer known as Weegee relocated from New York City to Los Angeles. I was so excited to receive my MOCA member’s catalog yesterday and learn about this upcoming show. It will be on from November 13th to February 27th, 2012 at MOCA Grand Avenue. This is the first museum exhibition devoted to the work Weegee produced in Southern California – in addition to roughly 200 photographs some of which have never been seen the exhibition encompasses Weegee’s related work as an author, filmmaker, Photo-essayist , Hollywood pit player and ingenious self-promoter. I can’t wait! This is also part of Pacific Standard Time – Art in LA. 1945-1980.
