Recapping an Afternoon with Frank Ockenfels 3 and APA Los Angeles

On February 14th, we gathered at Helms Daylight Studio for a truly special afternoon: an artist talk and book signing with Frank Ockenfels 3. The event celebrated the release of his latest book, Collaboration: Frank Ockenfels 3 X David Bowie, a stunning visual chronicle of his sixteen-session creative journey with the Thin White Duke.

The highlight of the afternoon was a live, in-depth conversation between Frank and Joe Levy, veteran music journalist and Contributing Editor at Rolling Stone. Joe, who also penned the foreword for the book, guided the discussion with the kind of insight only an expert can provide. From the technical “how-to” of Frank’s experimental processes to personal anecdotes from his 15-year working relationship with Bowie, it was an inspiring deep dive into the art of the portrait.

A massive thank you to the APA LA (American Photographic Artists) for hosting and organizing such a flawless event, and to Joe Levy for his brilliant moderation. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us to share in the stories and the art.
