The Artist Management Association (AMA) is calling on our creative community—and everyone who values human-made art—to speak out against the unauthorized use of artists’ work to train artificial intelligence systems.
AI tools are advancing at a rapid pace, but much of that progress is being built on the uncredited, uncompensated labor of working artists, photographers, illustrators, and other creatives. Without consent, copyrighted images, videos, and likenesses are being scraped from the internet and used to develop generative AI models that now compete directly with the very creators whose work they exploit.
This is not innovation—it’s appropriation. And it threatens the livelihoods, ownership, and future of creative work.
We join AMA Managing Director Jennifer Judkins in urging lawmakers to:
