TAKING A LOOK BACK AT PONY KIDS BY PERRY OGDEN

Perry Ogden’s book ‘Pony Kids‘ documented the extraordinary horse culture that evolved in the 90s in the housing estates surrounding Dublin. Unemployed teens from poor families living in public housing began keeping their ponies on patches of green in the city wastelands.

These images are a time capsule before the Control of Horses Act was enacted in 1997. Now, the unsettled, outcasted kids are an extinct tribe. This book is now a classic in outsider documentary photography and is incredibly rare.
