Has passed way at the age of eighty six. Andre Cassagnes was a French electrician who came up on the concept for the toy while peeling a decal from a switch plate and he noticed that his pencil marks transferred from one surface to another. When I was growing up I LOVED my Etch a Sketch and spent hours playing with the lines and those two white knobs…..it was one of my favorite toys and still is! Read his NY TImes obituary here
